We are pleased to announce that the series production A BETTER PLACE, which we realized together with Komplizen Serien, Studiocanal Series and The Post Republic, will premiere at the Film Festival Cologne on 18 October 2024!
We would like to take this opportunity to give an insight into our ecological approach to the production of A BETTER PLACE.
As with many previous projects, it was also important to us in this production that the realization of the 8x45 minute format for WDR and ARD Degeto, Canal+ France and Canal+ Austria takes place with a focus on green filming and thus with an increased use of measures for sustainable production. At A BETTER PLACE, we decided to implement the project as part of the FISA+ incentive launched at the beginning of 2023 and its Green Bonus criteria catalogue.
Thanks to our green filming measures, we were ultimately able to save 30 tons of CO2 compared to the originally calculated total CO2 emissions for production.
Here are a few highlights:
With Mahl-Art ascaterer, we cooked purely vegetarian meals three days a week. A sophisticated digital system was used to ensure that food was served according to demand, thus minimizing the amount of wasted food due to overproduction to almost zero.
70 percent of all trips were made by rail and local public transport, despite international co-production and an international cast.
With Jola Rentas a supplier in the areas of energy, technology and location infrastructure, a partner company was brought on board that has been dedicated to sustainability in the film industry since 2011 and was able to contribute a number of green impacts to the production. For example, the possibility of using HVO100 bio-diesel for all motorized vehicles. The use of this fuel, which is made from renewable raw materials, reduces CO2 emissions by up to 90 percent compared to conventional diesel.
Motifs and production facilities were predominantly supplied with green electricity.
In the art departments of set design and costume, the green approach was reflected in the fact that props and costumes were predominantly purchased on loan - 80 percent of the props were borrowed and could therefore be returned at the end of their use.
Finally, and with all thefigures in hand, it is important to us to offset the CO2 emissions generated not only in the area of mobility, but also those of the entire production. As a partner in this endeavor, we are working with Klima Kollekte, whose climate protection projects are certified with the Gold Standard for the Global Goals and make a measurable contribution to climate protection.
THANK YOU to the crews of all departments and the entire team for their commitment!
